ALLEGED WASTE OF MONEY. OPINION OF RECENT VISITOR. (Received April £J(S. 5.5 p.m.) PERTH, April 26. Mr. MacCallum Smith, a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, who recently inspected the Federal capital, said Canberra was a garden city run mad, and was under the control of madmen. There had been a criminal waste of borrowed money. He marvelled that the business men of New South Wales and Victoria had not protested. Mr. Smith is a newspaper proprietor.
