When Mr. Churchill resumed his seat after delivering his Budget statement, the former Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Labour Government, Mr. Philip Snowden, congratulated the Chancellor on his brilliant party achievement. Ho said he welcomed the allowances for children in the income tax payments, and also the rating scheme. His only criticism of the latter proposal was its delay until 1929. Mr. Lloyd George, a former Chancellor, said he welcomed the income tax exemptions. He characterised the local rating relief as the most dominant and important feature of the Budget. The House rose at 8.7 p.m.
