YUGOSLAV PRIEST.

MISSION IN NEW ZEALAND. A large number of Yugoslavs from all parts of the Auckland Province gathered in St- Benedict's Hall, last evening to welcome the Rev. Father Milan Pavlinovich, who arrived at Auckland from Dalmatia this week to minister to the spiritual needs of his fellow countrymen who have made homes in the Dominion. The hall was crowded, most of those present being Dalmatians. Bishop Cleary presided, and there were also present Dr. Liston, and many representatives of the Roman Catholic clergy and laity.

Welcoming Father Pavlinovich, Bishop Cleary spoke of the great faith of the Yugoslavs, and their national traditions. He hoped Father Pavlinovich would meet with the co-operation that such a mission merited.

Dr, Liston said the natives of Dalmatia had always been noted for -their high ideals and aspirations, and it was for them to uphold these traditions in New Zealand. .He assured Father Pavlinovich that ho was being received as one of their own. An address of welcome was then presented to Father Pavlinovich by Mr, Totich, Dalmatian Consul, and a speech of welcome was given by Mr. Mark Simich, on behalf of the Yugoslavs. In reply, Father Pavlinovich said he was deeply grateful for the welcome and he won Id* do his best with the mission entrusted to him.
