DAIRY PRODUCE EXPORTS.

BALANCE OF THE SEASON. ESTIMATES OF SHIPMENTS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Monday. Estimates of the quantities of dairy produce that will be available for export during the remaining period of the season have been made on a conservative basis, taking into account the relation between production and shipments during the first eight months of tho season in comparison with the previous year. Exports of butter to all destinations from April 1 to August 31 last year amounted to 970,000 boxes. It is now assumed that the exportable surplus for tho whole of the present season will be about equal to that for last season. This will give a total of 520,000 boxes to be exported in the five months as follows: April, 210,000 boxes; May, 100,000; June, 80,000 July, 80,000 j August, 50,000. It is believed these figures are on the conservative side and, should tho winter be a mild one with an early spring, it is quite possible they will bo increased, for at present considerable stocks are held in cool stores for winter local trade and may, under the above conditions, prove to bo in excess of requirements, in which case the excess will be released for export.

The available surplus of cheese for the five months is estimated at 270,000 crates, as against actual exports in the corresponding period last yoar of 406,000 crates. This may be shipped as follows:—April, 100 000 crates; May, 100,000; June, 50,000; July, 20,000. Following are estimates of the arrivals in the United Kingdom of New Zealand butler and cheese from March onward, compared with actual quantities delivered last year:—
