PROGRESS IN FRANKLIN. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PUKEKOHE, Friday. The seventh annual meeting of the Franklin branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday afternoon. The president, Mrs. H. H. D. Wily, reported that the branch had continued to progress, and the support being given to the work by the various parts of the district was very gratifying. During the year a Plunket room had been added by the society to the ladies' rest room "building at Pukekohe, and furnished. This, together with the use of the rest room, meant that the branch was very satisfactorily placed for accommodation. A new sub-branch had been started at Pokeno, making in all three sub-branches, Papakura, Tuakau, and Pokeno. A Karitane cot had been endowed by the branch. The financial statement showed receipts totalling £772 Is 3d, and expenditure £683 9s lOd, leaving a credit balance of £BB lis sd. This was exclusive of the funds of the sub-branches. The election of officers resulted.— Patron, Dame Christina Massey; president, Mrs. Wily; vice-presidents, Mesdames McArthur, Cooper, Pattle, Burrows and Proude; committee, Mesdames Brown, Hosking, Bayly, O'Loughlen, Anderson, Kreutzer, Rutherford, Curd, Day, Ravnes, and Snell, and Nurse Bovd; advisory board, the Mayor, Mr. John Routlev, Drs. Begg, Bull and McWhirter, and Messrs. Wily, Perkins, Pattle, and Snell; auditor, Mr. H. H. O'Loughlen; treasurer and secretary, Mrs. F. Perkins; honorary solicitor, Mr. H. J. Wily. PROGRESS AT WHANGAREI. OFFICERS FOR THE YEAR. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI, Friday. The annual meeting of the Whangarei branch of the Plunket Society was held this afternoon, and was very largely attended. The Mayor, Mr. L. J. Brake, was in the chair. The annual report showed another year of splendid progress under the presidency of Mrs. A. J. Murdoch. The chief event was the completion and occupancy of the new building. The work had advanced in every department, and £55 had been received in members' subscriptions. The following were elected office-bearers for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. W. Jones, M.P.; president, Mrs. James Donaldson ; vice-president, Mrs. D. A. McLean; secretary, Mrs. J. F. S. Briggs; treasurer, Mrs. T. H. Wilson; auditor, Mr. T. H. Steadman. All the members of the Advisory Board were re-elected. Country representatives: Maunu, Mrs. J. M. Clarke; Maungatapere, Mrs. G. Morrison; Maungakaramea, Mrs. Walker; Portland, Mrs. Dempsey: Kamo, Mrs. James McKay and Mrs. W. H. Gunson; Titoki, Mrs. Swears; Onerahi, Mrs. W. 1 J. Orr; Hikurangi, Mrs. H. H. Hawkins.
