THE BOY SCOUTS.
Sir, —I think your correspondents od. the above subject, in their enthusiasm for the Scout movement, have taki>n too strong exception to the expression used, by Mr. Hunt in Court, and, in doing so. have failed to give the magistrate credit for the good motive by which, to my mind, he was actuated. If he had not held a good opinion of the movement lie would not have recommended It to the voting men concerned as being a satis- . factory way of fulfilling their obligations to their country. It is regrettable that ho used the worcls that have given causa for complaint, but I think the sarcasm in the remark was intended to fall upon the applicant for exemption from military training rather than upon the Scout movement. Personally, as a Scout, I would very much like "to see these young men seriously consider taking up scouting, which bears absolutely no relation to militarism. Assistant Scoutmaster.
