FEAR OF CORPULENCE.
VOLUNTARY STARVATION. FASTING CURES IN BRITAIN. LONDON, April 4. The maintenance of that schoolgirl figure—so essential nowadays—by fasting has become so popular that many complaints have been received from people at having to lino up in queues to undergo starvation. Ono establishment at Tring, Hertfordshire, where fasting is medically supervised, has been booked up for three months. Ninety people are undergoing a fasting cure, from a few days to a month. The average time is 21 days, and the record 92 days. A Northamptonshire establishment is also busy. Specialists urge intending fasters to obtain medical advice before deciding to fast.
