The Easter Conference o£ the Australian liabOtr Party was opened this jnoraing with Mr. J. Garden's supporters in control. Much argument marked the proceedings and there were allegations of currupt practices in regard to the Albury group ballot. The conference decided that if the Labour Party should be successful at the next election it should legislate to make it obligatory that"- a Labour hiember should vacate his seat if he failed to carry out the directions of the party; The minute secretary of the party, Mr. jVbight, speaking ou the presentation of the annual report of the executive said the Australian Labour Party and the Communist Party were really at one in their ideals. The aim of both was the socialisation of industry, which was the only solution of every labour trouble.
