MR. HUGHES' CRITICISM. MINISTER'S HOT RETORT. (Received March 30. 9.15 p.m.) A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, March 30. Speaking afc the conference of the Nationalist Party, Sir Neville Howse, on behalf of the Federal Government, characterised tho remarks on the Government's migration policy made yesterday by Mr. W. M. Hughes, as absolutely and deliberately untrue. Sir Neville said ho considered that the present position was the most serious tho Nationalist Parly had ever been called upon to face. Ho then moved a motio-i of confidence in the Government, arid affirming the satisfaction of the conference at the manner in which tho Government had safeguarded the interest? of tho Commonwealth by its administration of the migration laws. The motion was carried after a lengthy debate.
