THE HARBOUR BRIDGE.
Sir, —Considering t lie intense feeling that is being aroused on the above subject throughout, the North Shore, I am glad to see another woman coming to the front, i can assure you that it is becoming a very big question in all households in this district. One item, and a very big one, "Materfamilias" omitted in her interesting letter and that is the cost of living occasioned by (he traffic charges across the harbour. Comparing housebuilding and daily household charges with my sister residing near Three Lamps, we can certify that the cost is 10 per cent, higher here, although my house is much nearer Queen Street than hers. But there may be some excuse other than hvpoerisy in the Cabinet's dislike of the art union. It is a big adventure, and the cost of the bridge could probably be met by well-considered and not exorbitant tolls. .1 see that a huge bridge is to be built, two miles long, at the Bosphorous, to be financed from toll charges, after a period of years the bridge to become the property of (lie (Jovernmcnt. Our bridge would be useful m conducting numberless electrical, arid, in the future, water tervices across tlic Waiternata. JjOADK.ka.
