SYDNEY SHOOTING AFFRAY. AN UNDERWORLD VENDETTA. A. nnd N.Z. SYDNEY, March 35. As a result of a serious fight with revolvers, believed to have been connected with an underworld vendetta, Norman McDonald was taken to hospital in a grave condition suffering from the effects of being shot in the body. He refused to give the police any information as to his assailant. The police have secured definite evidence that another man must have been seriously wounded, but they have failed to locate him. When this second man was last seen he was with several other men, who had him down on the floor of a hall in a house in Foveaux Street, in the city, and who were kicking him viciously. The original fracas occurred at the Elizabeth Street entrance to the central railway station. A constable in plain clotheS endeavoured to- assist the wounded man, but was driven off by a fusillade of shots. Ho then (sought assistance and two arrests were effected.
