TO-DAY'S WEATHER, HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening :—The weather is expected to be cloudy and unsettled at times, with a scattered rainfall, especially in South Auckland districts, and along tho east coast of the North Island, but indications favour a general improvement in conditions shortly, fine and cooler weather following. Southerly to south-easterly winds, moderate to strong. Seas smooth to moderate, although fairly rough at times between Whangarei and Napier. Barometric pressure is expected to increase over the Dominion, particularly over the South Island, in response to the movement eastward of a moderate high pressure system located southward of New Zealand. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 29.95 in. Midnight, Wednesday .. 29.95 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A moderate cyclone 13 located cast of Sydney and a shallow one north of the Bay of Plenty. An intense anti-cyclone is centred in the south-west Tasinan sea." Indications are for chiefly south-east to north-east winds, fresh to strong, north of Kawhia and East Cape, and freshening elsewhere. Rough seas north of Castlepoint and rising to the southward; smooth to moderate on the west coast. Disturbed conditions, with strong south-east to northeast wind? and rough seas, in the central and north-east Tasman Sea. Weather unsettled, with rain north of Kawhia and Napier, and extending gradually to other districts, but little rain on the west coast of the South Island. RAINFALL RECORD.
