CHARGE OF DRUNKENNESS. YOUTH AGED EIGHTEEN FINED. " I have 110 clear recollection, bat I suppose I used' the language," said Frank Raymond Corleison, aged 18, in th® Police Court yesterday when charged with being drunk and disorderly, and with using indecent language. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said the language was used as the. result of drunken bravado. Unfortunately for accused, it was used within the hearing of a constable. t , Mr. VV. R. McKean, S.M., fined accused £1 on the charge of drunkenness, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, and on the charge of using indecent language; £3 or 14 days' imprisonment. An old offender, Michael McGuirk, aged 43, was charged with drunkenness and breach of a prohibition order. He pleaded guilty to both charges. " Can I have one more chance !" asked accused. "One more chance?" said the magiv trate. " I wonder how many times you have had that 'one more chance. Accused: I can get a job on the Tofua. I wili give up tho drink altogether. The Magistrate: You will notf you never will. For drunkenness you will be fined £1 10s, in default three days' imprisonment, and for breach of the order £5, or 14 days' imprisonment. A curious plea was put forward by Harry Garfield Belbin, when charged with behaving in a disorderly manner in Queen Street and committing mischifef by damaging a policeman's tunic. When asked how he pleaded s accused said, slowly and deliberately, " Guilty of correcting, a constable in the street. lam trying to make the city clean and respectable, as it should be." The arresting constable said accused was standing in Queen Street about 10 o'clock yesterday morning, and wa3 performing a disorderly act. The Magistrate: I wiU remand him for a day for medical observation.
