TO-DAY'S WEATHER.

HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Mainly fair weather is indicated, although cloudy and unsettled at times, with a scattered rainfall. Electrical tension is pronounced, and heavy localised thunderstorms are expected, particularly along the east coast of the North Island, in South Auckland districts, and all areas' in the vicinity of mountain ranges. / Tropical influences are developing north-westward of the Dominion, while minor-disturbances are located both northward and southwestward of the Dominion. Winds variable, easterly to north-easterly, moderate to strong prevailing, veering to south shortly in northern districts. Seas chiefly smooth to moderate, but areas of moderately rough sea likely from Napier to Whangarei. Warm, humid conditions, with morning mists.

The Government meteorologist, reported last evening as follows:—An intense anti-cyclone is centred south of the Chatham Islands and there are rather disturbed conditions north of the Bay of Plenty. A depression over the western Tasman Sea may develop into a cyclone between • Sydney and New Zealand. Indications are for moderate to strong south-east to north-east winds north of Cook Strait, elsewhere north-east to north-west. Rather rough' seas on the east coast, otherwise smooth to moderate in Ne-v Zealand waters. Freshening northerly winds and rising seas in the eastern half of the Tasman Sea. Cloudy weather, with scattered rain, and in places thunder north of Kawhia and Napier, and gradually extending to other districts. Warmer temperatures.
