AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

YEAR'S FINANCES REVIEWED. | ' > ' ". ' ~~' ; " ADVANCE OF SPRING SHOW. • h-% . ... v, '■&■■"■■ '<■ .r .;•• : A profit o! £844 for the year ended January 31 last is disclosed in the thirtyseventh annua] report of the Auckland Metropolitan Agricultural and Pastoral AssociationThe report states the Winter Exhibition was again a great success, and thanks are expressed to the Auckland Harbour Board lor placing its sheds at the disposal of the committee.- Largely due to a fire during the course of the exhibition,; the receipts were less than in the previous' year, but were yet satisfactory, and a credit of £896 on the fixture is shown. Excellent weather conditions favoured the Spring Show, and although it showed a loss of £l3O, it compares more than favourably with those of the past few years, and when cognisance is taken of a new svste/n of accounting by the associa-. tion, it .appears as one of the most successful on record. Previously, members' subscriptions have all been credited to the Spring Show account, but this year they were apportioned as follows:—Winter Exhibition account, 25 per cent.; Spring Show, account, per cent.: general account, 37i per cent. It is on that bssis that the above balances have hertn prepared. Reducing them for comparative purposes to the former system, it is seen that the Winter Exhibition surplus would be reduced somewhat, and the Spring Show account actually (converted into a credit balance of £43s—the first time within six years that this fixture has shown a credit- "• " ' ■ The. following table, based orf the old system of accounting for the purposes, of a true comparison, gives the balances of Spring Shows since 1915:
