Auckland; stock exchange AVERAGE. DAY'S BUSINESS. Average business was transacted ■ on tho Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, and investors turned their attention to a wide variety of stocks. Government Inscribed Stock, 1938,. 4£ per cent., which sold at £97 10s, showed an advance of 5s on tho price last month, and of 10s to 12s 6d on the price in January. For War Loans, 1938,' per cent., buyers advanced to £97 7s 6d, and buyers of Inscribed Stock 1939, 4g per cent., advanced to £97 10s. Inscribed Stock, 1930, 5} per cent., Were available at £99.

In banks Australasias were wanted at £ls Is, but there were none offering. New Zealands changed hands at 59s 3d at the morning call, an advance of 3d on last week's rate. Business was done in Unions of Australia at £l4 14s, .and buyers continued to offer that figure. In insurance holders of New Zealands eased to 41s, but buyers were firm at 40s 6d. In coals tho contributing issue of Renown Collieries sold at the most recent rate of 13s. In shipping P. and 0., deferred stock, was offered at £242, buyers £235.

In breweries a sale was made in New Zealand Breweries at 425, but the stock was not afterwards quoted. This was the price last paid for them at the beginning of December. In miscellaneous holders of Amusement Parks declined to lis without attracting buyers. In mining Moanataiaris, paid, had a sale at is lOd, a drop of 2d since the last sale a fortnight ago. Mount Lyells, which wero last dealt in at the end of January at 295, sold at 30s.
