The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening : —Cloudy and unsettled weather is indicated, with general rains, but improving everywhere shortly, fine, though colder weather following. Southerly to south-easterly winds,- strong to gale. Heavy seas along the east coast. The tropical disturbance is now located northeastward of the Dominion, passing away to the south-east. Barometric pressuro is expected to increase rapidly under the influence of a new high-pressure system, embracing 1 an area of fine weather, approaching from the Tasman Sea.

The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—The northern storm is centred north of . the Bay of Plenty. A high pressure extends Over the Tasman Sea to beyond the Chatham Islands. Indications aro for strong north-east to south-east winds, to gales, at many places north of Farewell Spit and. Ivaikoura. Seas very rough on the east coast north of Lyttelton. Elsewhere gonerally moderate to rough in New Zealand waters. Moderate southerly winds and seas in the Tasman Sea. Weather fair in Westland and changeable, with scattered showers, in Otago. Elsewhere still cloudy and unsettled, with general rain. Further heavy falls in the northern and east coast districts of the North Island and in the Cook Strait area, with thundei 1 at places. Somo flooded rivers probable in the Bay of Plenty and Hawke's Bay districts. Temperatures becoming cooler. RAINFALL RECORD.
