AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS.

THIS WEEK'S ILLUSTRATIONS. CURRENT EVENTS A FEATURE. News and happenings of the moment occupy the customary prominent position in the pictorial section of this week's Auckland Weekly News, published today. Current events both near and far are presented in photographic review. Taking pride of'place there is the Grey District Diamond Jubilee. Interesting scenes during the week's celebrations at, Grcymouth are shown, including the jubilee procession and groups of pioneers of the district. One snapshot that makes a particular appeal is that of " Prime Ministers' wives past and present," showing Mi's. R. J. Seddon with Mrs. Coates. The whole series of pictures is so widely varied that it makes a most attractive souvenir of a memorable occasion.

The receat visit of the Governor-General and Lady Alice Fergusson to the fruit and hop-growing district of Motueka, Nelson, forms the subject of another interesting set of pictures. Considerable space is devoted to whaling in the Ross Sea, the photographs, which were taken by members of the Norwegian expedition, making up a unique collection. Bird studies from Queensland, Australia, secured by Mr. Otho Webb, an adept in stalking birds with the camera, occupy another full-page well/ worthy of close examination. The double-page contains striking views and scenes in the timbermilling district of the King Country. Among a great many other interesting subjects dealt with are the following:— Plunket babies at Hamilton; Wellington College war memorial; Rangiriri regatta; new motor-cycling records established at Takapuna; Wellington Hospital additions opened; new aeroplane for New Zealand Air Force; Ngauruhoe in eruption; Earl Jellicoe as film-actor; spring cruise of the Atlantic Fleet; New Zealand girl at Hollywood; and the Cambridge Show.
