NORTHCOTE BOROUGH.
LAKE TAKAPUNA LEVEL. Th© Northcote Borough Council met. last evening, the Mayor, Mr. A. E. GreenBlade, presiding. The waterworks engineer reported that 4.037,500 gallons of water had been used during February, the end of which the level of Lake Takapuna was two inches above high-tide mark, or seven inches lower than a month previous. The Devanport Borough Council wrote inviting co-operation in conserving the *ater supply. It was decided to reply that, while taking all measures to prevent waste, the Northcote Council saw bo reason to restrict water for all legitimate purposes. The engineer, Mr. A. Greville Walker, reported that the whole of the turning area at the wharf, which had been laid in concrete, would be available for traffic the following day. The westerrn halfwidth of bituminous concrete had been put down at the wharf, and was now open for traffic. The Mayor and the borough overseer, Mr. J. E. Mays, were appointed to represent Northcote at a conference next Monday afternoon concerning sewerage cutfalls into the harbour.
