LAND AGENTS' AUDIT.
REGULATIONS SUSPENDED. DATE OF OPERATION TO BE FIXED Regulations providing for an annual audit of the trust accounts of land agents were made by Order-in-Council last July. They required that within three months after the end of each year, commencing with the year ending March 31, 1928, every land agent should have his trust account audited by a qualified accountant, and a report by the latter furnished to the Auditor-General. One of the regulations provided that receipts for trust moueys should be given only on forms printed by the Government Printer. This prescription was to come into force on October 1 last, but so many protests were made that its operation was postponed until April 1. Now another Order-in-Council has been made excising all dates from the principal regulations and providing that they "shall come into force on a date to be fixed by the Governor-General by Order-in-Council."
