STOCKS AND SHARES.

AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE _ QUIET MONDAY MARKET. Sales were confined to a comparatively few stocks when business was resumed on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Government securities attracted considerable attention, and two parcels of War, Loan, 1938, 4£ per cent., changed hands at £97 15s. When they were last dealt in at tho middle of January the price was £97. Inscribed Stock, 1936, 5& per cent., which sold a month' ago at £lOl 2s 6d, showed a slight decline and changed hands at £lOl. . In banks buyers of Australasias advanced to £ls 2s, but there were none offering. In insurance business was done in South British at 58s 3d, Saturday's price, and Nationals sold at 15s 6d. In shipping Devonport Ferries sold at the current rate of 24s 9d. In breweries quotations for New Zealand Breweries were wide, but Staples and Co. sold at 37s 6d. The last sale a fortnight ago was at 37s 3d.
