MEETING OF SURVEYORS.
IMPORTANT DISCUSSIONS. The February meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors was held Inst week in Wellington, the president of the institute, Mr. Preston Chambers, of Auckland, presiding. A two-days' session dealt with varied subjects of much importance, including land transfer surveys of areas abutting on railway l.fnds, anomalies in the Min-ing-'Act. student members' branches, town planning competitions, and the administration of the Town Planning Act. Now Plymouth was selected as the centre for the annual meeting of tho institute in August. 7t was stated that interviews with the Minister of Lands had been obtained to emphasise the necessity for the passing of tho Survey Bill embracing the alignment of streets, an improved verification oI surveys, and a greater defmiteness in the conditions respecting reservations in the subdivisions of private estates. A considerable advance in the treatment of these matters ex-pcctod to result from tho interviews.
