TOUR OF THE FAR NORTH. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TOTARi. NO2CTH. Monday. ' The Minister of. Health, Hon. J. A. Young, accompanied by Mr. Allen Bell, M.P., arrived- at Russell on Saturday evening. He was waited upon by Mr. Gordon Ewen, chairman of the Town Board, who brought under the Minister's notice the improvements which the local authority had in hand. The Minister left Russell early this morning and proceeded to Kawakawa, where he was met by the chairman of the Hospital Board, Mr. Jones, and several members of the board. The Minister inspected the hospital, including the new maternity annexe, which he opened last May. He said he was pleased to find that the annexa was being extensively, used. The members of the board stated that the annexe was being used to a greater extent than formerly, and that it was desirable that the hospital should be recognised as a training school for midwives as well as maternity nurses. Mr. Young'pointed out that the classifi-, cation of maternity hospitals as training schools was a function of the Nurses and midwives' Registration Board. ( t
