AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE WIDE RANGE OF BUSINESS* Acflvlfy covered a wide range on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, the total volume of business transacted being above the average. As Has been the case since business was resumed after the holidays, interest was centred chiefly in the investment sections of the market. Inscribed Stock, 1933, 5£ per cent., sold at £lOl 2s 6d; a recovery of ,2s 6d on the price paid at the beginning of the month. Buyers offered £IOO 15s for further parcels, but sellers did not quote. In local body debentures City of Auckland, 1940, 5£ per cent., changed hands at the current price of £96 10s, an early quotation of £97 being withdrawn at the mid-day call. Auckland Hospital Board, 1947, 5| per cent., found a buyer at £lol.* In banks there was early sale in Commercials of Australia at 27s sd, l*id although buyers offered the same amount for more at the third call, sellers showed no disposition to lower their quotations from 27s Bd. New South Wales were again done at £47 12s 6d. New Zealands were slightly easier, the shares selling at 58s 9d, a reduction of 3d on the last sale. The market for insurance shares was steady at 40s 6d and 40s for New Zealands and 58s find 57s 3d for South British. In loan and agency Goldsbrough, Mort sold at the ruling price of 48s 3d. National Mortgage were done at 745, an improvement of Is 6d on the price paid at the most recent previous sale.in November. In coal- Taupiris also showed an improvement, sale being made at 25s 9d, an increase of 9d on the January prices. Early quotations at the same figure were, withdrawn at the afternoon call. In lpining New Waiotahi (con.), sold at 7d,. and Waihis at 10s and 9s lid.
