OBITUARY.

MR. W. N. GILLIES. (Received February 9, 8.20 p.m.) A. and N.Z. BRISBANE. Feb. 9. The sudden death occurred to-day of Sir. W. N. Gillies, formerly Premier of Queensland. Mr. William Neal Gillies was born in New South Wales in 1868. He was a farmer and sugar grower. He later went to Queensland and was . elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1912. He was Minister of Justice in 1918, and succeeded Mr. Theodore as Premier in February, 1925. He resigned to join tho Board of Arbitration.
