MR. AND MRS. J. HINDMAN.

The golden wedding of two old colonists, Mr. and Mrs. J. Hindman, of Calliope, Road, Stanley Bay, will be celebrated today. Mr. Hindman came to New Zealand in the ship Baron Aberdare in 1875, Mrs. Hindman, then Miss Amelia Pattison, arriving in the Orari two years later. They were married in Ponsonby by the Rev. Westbrook, and resided for a time in Remuera, which was then mainly open country. For over 20 years Mr. Hindman was in the employ of the late Mr. D. In later years Sir. and Mrs. Hindman were associated with the foundation of the summer resorts at Buckland's Beach and Ostend, Waiheke. Both are members of the Old Colonists' Association, and Mr. Hindman is a keen playing member of the Stanley Bay Bowling Club. There are three sons, three daughters and twenty-two grandchildren. The sons are Mr. J. Hindman, of Waipukurau, Mr. W. J. Hindman, of Papatoetoe, and Mr. W. L. Hindman, of- Lewisham, England. The daughters are Mrs. T, R. Smytheman, of Papatoetoe, Mrs. W. Gooawin, of Edendale, and Mrs. F. J. Hooker, of Stanley Bay.
