MANY MOTORISTS CHARGED.
DANGEROUS DRIVING CASES.
PENALTIES FOR SPEEDING
A variety of charges was preferred against motorists in the Police Court yesterday. Charged with dangerous driving, ' William Moore and J. 0. Lineham were each fined £5, V. L. Baker, £4, and F. Al. Seccombe £l. For negligent driving, Cecil Turner was fined £4, J. C. Graham £2, and H. J. North 10s. On charges of speeding, T. F. Sadgrove was fined £4, John Krivich and R. N. 0. Matthews each £3, F. Mackinven aud T. G. Moore £2, and T. L. Gedye £l.
Bus-drivers, who left their vehicles oh an unauthorised stand were fined as follows:—Michael McCarthy (two charges), £3; T. R. Meredith, £1 10s; R. E. Graydon (two charges), and G. McFarlane, £l. For loitering with his vehicle in Queen Street, Graydon was fined a further £1 10s.
For leaving cars unattended, A. G. Frankham, R. N. Govv, D. F. Bailey, W. D'Audney, C. Garlick, H. B. Hebden, C. L. Low, J. P. Crawford and R. Corbett were each fined 10s. For leaving his car stationary on Grafton Bridge, H. Billington was fined £l. A similar fine was imposed on William Moffatt for stopping in a safety zone. Fine'of .10s were imposed on the following, who parked cars in Queen Street for longer than the stipulated period:— H. C. Curlett, R. H. Duder, W. J. Fletcher, R. Hunt, W. Lane, B. McGinn and J. A. Mclnness. Curlett was also fined 10s for having his number plate obscured. C. H. Tileman, who parked his car at an angle, ivas fined 10s. J. N. Rishworth was fined 10s for parking too near a corner.
On charges of turning to the right during prohibited periods, A. W. Salaman and L. Ricks were fined £l, and L. W. Burke, J. Laidlaw, D. M. Young, J. Regan, J. Lovegrove, and A. H. Chambers were each fined 10s. A fine of £1 was imposed on M. Spitz for driving on the wrong side of the road. Insufficient lighting was responsible lor the following fines: —R. Bocking and A. E. Newman, £1; C. Bailey, Arthur Dew, R. C. Donaldson, J. L Hanna, R. J. Morgan, A. Tercel, L. Williams, M. Zambucca, 10s. P. G. Harkness and H. S. Barry were convicted and ordered to pay costs for having no tail light. On a charge of pillion riding, H. L. Buckley was fined 10s. John Walker was fined a similar sum for making an undue noise on a motor-cycle. Having failed to obey a traffic signal, J. Maloney, G. Bryant and J. Tester were each fined £l, and W. H. Bond 10s. Francis Brewer was fined £1 for causing an obstruction to traffic.
