TASMAN FLIGHT FUND.

HOMAGE TO THE BRAVE. PROVISION TOR WIDOWS. THE LIST SOON TO CLOSE. Although New Zealand lacks the air sense, and has not yet fully appreciated the importance of air transport, she produced in Lieutenant Moncrieff and Captain Hood, airmen with the urge to high endeavour in this sphere of human activity. In attempting to fly tho Tasman Sea they tackled a task not substantially less than the water gap of the Atlantic, and whatever may be the opinion as to their navigating skill and general equipment, none can fail to appreciate their courage. They belonged to the very small band from which come those who are prepared to pioneer at great personal risk, and to them the homage of their country is due. To provide for their widows is the best form in which we can honour their gallant names. The Herald therefore renews its npneal for contributions to its Tasman Flight Fund, which will shortly be closed. The list to date is as follows : Previously -acknowledged . . £233 11 0 T. H.
