Y.W.C.A. NEWS.
A meeting of board and executive members of the Young Women's Christian Association was held on Friday, when preparations for the entrance into the new hostel were made. The devotional period at the commencement of the meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. C. W. Garrard. It was reported that the new hostel would be ready for occupation by February 1, and that the official opening ceremony would take place on March 14, when Her Excellency, Lady Alice IXirgusson has graciously indicated her willingness to take part in the opening function. The old hostel has been sold through tho efforts of Mi. J. J. Seymour, to whom a vote qf thanks was passed for bis. generosity in making a handsome donation from the commission due to him. Ii was also reported that the cafeteria was now under new management. Two domestic science graduates were in charge, and it was hoped that this departmeht would provide wholesome and attractive meals for the general public as well as for the girls. There was every indication of a tine year in the health and recreation deEartment, as it is to have the servicss of liss Wager (Bedford College) and Miss Faraday (Liverpool College). The appointment was made of Miss Vera McLean as . business secretary in place of Miss Margaret Edmond, who is leaving next month ' to take up the position of assistant general •- secretary to the Perth Y.W.C.A. Miss , Audrey McCrea was appointed to repre- ' sent the association at the New Zealand Youth Workers' Conference, to* be held at W&ikanae at the end of this month. »\
