TRAGEDY IN THEATRE.
TRAPEZE ARTIST'S DEATH. [ CRASH INTO WOMAN'S LAP. s A. and N.Z. LONDON, Dec. 31. ' The dive of a trapeze artist into the ' stalls in the theatre at Hillingborough thrilled the audience, although they were s unaware it was really a dive to death. Greenhalge, who was dresseid as an ' ape and had been performing the feat 3 for 30 years, jumped before his ankle was properly secured in the trapeze. He crashed headlong into a woman's lap. She was removed to hospital with a broken leg. Greenhalge died in a few minutes but the band struck up a gay march, so that the audience did not realise the tragedy. Greenhalge's wife, who witnessed the 5 accident behind the scenes, fainted. Blondin once had a similar accident. I Ho fell into a woman's lap in the stalls - and bioko her legs but himself was unJ hurt.
