BUTTER AND CHEESE.
PRODUCTION IN AUCKLAND. THE INCREASE MAINTAINED. PREVIOUS RECORD PASSED* In spite of the abnormally dry weather conditions that have prevailed in the Auckland Province during the early summer months dairy production has been well maintained above the level of fcne previous record established last yea.*-. Since the beginning of tho season, according to the latest figures supplied by the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company, 1,059,891 boxes of butter and 72,016 crates of cheese have been received into store. Converted to terms of butter-fat the figures show the province's dairy production for the season to date to be 54,135,8371b., an increase of 6,544,8431b., , or more than 13 per cent., over last year's figures. Tho early spring months were responsible for very heavy increases in production, but even in tho last half of December, when pastures were particularly in need of rain, tho comparison with previous records is very favourable. During , the fortnight ended on December 28 tho butter and cheese received into store in Auckland represented 6,745,1981b. of butter-fat, an increase of 321,8991b., or 5 per cent, over the corresponding fortnight last year, Eegular shipments have boon made ol | both butter and cheese, and the stocks now awaiting clearance amount to only 127,639 boxes of butter and 17,223 crates of cheese. Both figures are smaller than those at tho end of December last yoar.
