FATAL STREET ACCIDENT.

DEATH OF MAORI VISITOR. STRUCK BY A MOTOR-LORRY. Injuries sustained through being struck by a motor-lorry at the corner of Customs Street and Little Queen Street last evening caused the death of an aged Macri, Wetere, of Te Kauwhata. At the time the lorry, driven by Mr.. Claude Francis Stevens, of Western Springs, Morningside, was turning from Customs Street into Little Queen Street. The deceased was crossing the road when he was knocked down by the vehicle, which was promptly brought to a standstill. The accident occurred about 4.30 p.m., and the deceased succumbed to his injuries at the Auckland Hospital less than an hour later. The only superficial injury was a compound fracture of the left leg; and it is assumed that shock, accentuated by deceased's age, caused his death.,
