THE WATER-GIVERS.

REMEIiiBER your pets J aT ALICE! A. HENHX. * Are you a water-giver ? I wonder how many of the happy and well-cared-for children, who write for and read the children's page, are water-givers ? A good many, I hope. The hot weather is coming, and that is why I would like to remind all boys and girls that little creatures that cannot turn taps often have to pant and lone in vain for water, and, perhaps, even die for want of it. Even in the country, where streams and pools aro common I never like to see a dry ci'inkinjr dish in a fowl-run, or near a dog s kennel. At the risk of being thought fussy, I generally manage to fill it. W hen I was last in town it worried me to see go many nice gardens and neat yards without a tin or bowl of water anywhere, for little stray creatures to quench their thirst. , The lot of homeless cats is sad enough at any time, but so much worse if they have to go thirsty as well as hungry. It must bo miserable for them if, in their timid searches for food, they can find no water in the tidy back yards. The poor things may have little kittens hidden away, which they have to leave while they go long distances for water. Remember what it is like to be parched with thirst yourself, and let- nothing near you suffor for want of water. Don't forget your dog when he is chained up, and leave a dish of water in your school playgrounds. . Birds, cats and dogs may all be grateful to you for it. Bo watergivers all the summer. " Inasmuch as y® do it unto the least of these, ye do it unto Me/'
