TRAVELLERS BY TRAIN.
NUMEROUS EXTRA EXPRESSES Special time-tables have been arranged by the Railway Department to cope with the exceptional traffic expected during the next few days. Four expresses left Auckland for Wellington yesterday and a similar number will be despatched to-day, the last one leaving at 8.40 p.m. Extra trains will be run to-day to Whangarei at 9.15 a.m., to HeJensville at 6.45 p.m., to Rotorua at 10.20 p.m., to Opua at 10.30 p.m., and to Swanson at 11 p.m. A special express from Whangarei is due at Auckland at 7,3 p.m., and an additional train will be run from Te Kuiti, arriving at 10.54 p.m. Five expresses will leave Wellington for Auckland to-day, and one, the daylight limited, will arrive this evening. The others are due to-morrow. Two expresses, the daylight limited and another at 2 p.m., will leave Auckland for Wellington to-morrow. On Sunday three trains will arrive from Wellington. Judging by forward bookings Rotorua Btill maintains its popularity as a holiday resort. To-morrow's express is almost, completely booked, and it is anticipated that about 20 carriages will be required. 'Hie Wellington express, leaving at 2 p.m. to-moiTOw, will connect at Frankton with trains for Paeroa and Rotorua. In addition, there will be extra expresses for Auckland to-morrow from Taumarunui, Te Kuiti and Whangarei. There has also been a rearrangement of the local time-table for Monday, and several additional trains will be run between Auckland and Frankton and Auckland and Northern stations.
There were heavy bookings for all three trains which left for the South last evening. On the Limited there were only seven first-class unreserved seats to spare, and in the nine passenger coaches of the second express there were only four first-class seats not taken. The third train was similarly well patronised and left with 11 full passenger carriages.
