BATSMAN SMASHES BALL. ANOTHER NOT AVAILABLE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NGATEA, Thursday. The Hauraki Plains Cricket Association was recently called on to decide an interesting problem in connection with an incident in a match between the Wiitakaruru and Kopuarahi Clubs. Kopuarahi had a lead of 15 runs on the first innings and was at the wickets for the second time tvhen the rather ancient ball was rent asunder by a mighty hit, and, as another ball could not be secured, the game was abandoned. The association has decided to replay the second innings at the close of the season in the event of the result having a bearing on championship honours.
