NOTE REGARDING TARIFFS.

In the House of Commons a question was asked regarding the contents of the Note recently sent to the Government of Persia, and regarding the relations now existing between Britain and Persia. The Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. G. T. Locker-Lampson, replied that British relations with Persia wero friendly, but there were several questions outstanding between the two countries which it would be desirable to have settled, in the interests of both countries, and of the friendly atmosphere which <j Britain desired to maintain. The British Note to the Persian Government was in reply, to an inquiry by the Persian Government as to the attitude of the British Government toward certain proposed tariff changes, and it dealt with some of the matters to which he had referred.
