EGYPTIAN TARIFFS.

REVISION CONTEMPLATED. ENGAGEMENT OF EXPERTS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received December 2, 5.4.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. RUGBY, Dec. 1. The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Sir Austen Chamberlain, was asked in the House of Commons if he had received any communication from the Egyptian Government intimating its intention to set up a tariff of protective duties, and what measures had been taken to secure British interests. The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. G. T. Locker-Lampson, who replied, said he had received no such communication. On the expiry of the ItaloEgyptian Commercial Convention in 1930 the Egyptian - Government would be free to revise its tariff policy. For that purpose, two tariff experts had recently been engaged. The services of one of them were secured through the good offices of the British Government.
