GERMAN SPY TRAPPED.
A YEAR IN PRISON.
SOLDIER-DECOY'S REWARD.
The Court at Sarreguemines, France, has tried and sentenced a German named Deutsch oil a charge of espionage. In August last ho had attempted to obtain possession of an automatic rifle of the 1924 model by bribing a soldier in an infantry regiment at Wiesbaden. Ho gave tho soldier 100 francs on the promise that the rifle ha wanted would be handed to him. The soldier informed his superior officer, and a trap was laid for Deutsch. The soldier went to Bitcho with a package containing two old rifles, which were handed to Deutsch, who parted with 700 francs. An attempt was then made to arrest the spy, who however, escaped, but was captured later. Deutsch was sentenced to year's imprisonment and forbidden to reside in Franco for ten years. The soldier was given a week's leave and told to keep tho 800 francs.
