TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hoars from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last pven mg: —Fair to cloudy weather ts indicated, with scattered showers, particularly in coastal areas. Winds' variable, southerly to .south-easterly, backing to north easterly, moderate to strong, and freshen ing in districts northward of New Ply mouth and Napier, and moderate southerlies prevailing elsewhere. Seas moderate, but increasing shortly on East Coast. Barometric pressure shows a decreasing tendency. The tropical disturbance is still ' located north-westward of the Dominion: Barometer, midnight, rising . 29.95 in, Midnight, Wednesday .. 29.95 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—Present indica tions are toi stiong south easterly winds, to gale at places north oi West port arid Kaikoura, backing to easterly and north easterly later, elsewhere moderate eastet lies to freshening north winds, weathei changeable and unsettled, with general ram and heavy tails m parts. Pressure is now high in the South Island, while shallow cyclones are located oast and west ol the North Island, and an extensive cyclone is situated north-east of Norfolk island. RAINFALL RECORD.
