TROTTING

SEASON'S FIXTURES. \ December 3—Waikato Trotting Club. December 10- Northland Trotting Club. December 10 Wellington Trotting Club Decembei 26, 27- Westport Trotting Club December 27, 29. 31—Auckland Trotting Club. February 18. 22—Otahuhu Trotting Club March 24- Thames Trotting Club June 23. 27-Auckland Trotting Club. THE WAIKATO MEETING. PROGRAMME OF EVENTS. The Waikato Trotting Club will hold its spring meeting at Claudelands to-morrow, and, the appointments at the Waikato ground having undergone a marked trans formation since the last meeting, the ap proaching gathering will be held under greatly-improved conditions. The accept ances received for the eight events which form the programme constitute a record for a Waikato meeting, and it should only re quire the weather to-morrow to be id keep mg with the season to Bnsure a large attendance, as special train arrangement!from various points are announced.

The programme will be brought jff in tho following order:— Introductory Handi cap (li miles), Frankton Handicap <l{ miles). Mark Memorial Cup Handicap itwo miles). Claudelanda Handicap 'two miles). Hamilton Handicap (two miles). Stewards Handicap 'one mile). President's Handicap (li miles), and Visitors' Handicap (saddle li miles). . , NOTES FROM ErSOM. BY PICADOR. Matters have been fairly quiet on the local tracks since the recent Otahuhu meeting. although a number of horses have been kept going with a view to competing at Claudelands to-morrow, Some of tho local trainers have already left with their representatives for the Waikato meeting but the majority are booked to go to-day

The trotter Carberley has improved in appearance lately, and there can be no doubt that he is making steady progress under the direction of C. G Lee As a three-year-old he had three races last season wilhout showing any form and has also been unplaced in his two outings this term Whether he is seasoned enough to win just yet is doubtful, but he wil! be found racing in improved fashion in the near future.

Daytime' has trained on nicely since running two seconds at tho recent Otahuhu meeting at Alexandra Park and should strip a fit horse at Claudelands to-morrow As he has a record of 2m 18 3-5s for a mile, he reads nicely placed on 2m 20s in the Stewards' Handicap, and will probably start favourite

Hitherto Wrigley has not shaped like a genuine stayer, but with age he may be improving in this respect. He has bad a sound preparation for his coming engagement and it should not be for lack of con dition if he fails to see out two miles at Claudelands. It was Wrigley who was responsible for the pace when the placed horses, Floreht, Van Rich, and Gold Jacket, all went fast in the Claudelands Handicap last season

An interesting piece of work was performed at Alexandra Park yesterdav by Golden Park (G. Phipps) and Single Mint (N ■ Cunningham), who were associated over a mile and a-half. The pair worked the reverse way round, and Golden Park 'm sidb) appeared to go the better of the two. The time was only ordinary, and in their respective classes at Claudelands Golden Park may be the better prospect.

Nothing very strenuous has been exacted from Black Lila since the recent Otahuhu meeting, although she is being kept going steadily with a view to competing at the summer carnival. Though eligible for the Auckland Trotting Cup. Black Lila was not nominated for that event. She has been entered for tho sprint events and also for the leading races on the second and third days.

Without managing to reach a place. Rock burn paced a sound race over two miles in his last start, and some of his admirers are sanguine that he "will improve upon that effort i-i the Mark Memorial Cup at Claudelands to-morrow. Off the limit he can be safely expected to pace a sound race, although horses liko Loch Moigh and Gold Jacket should keep him thoroughly extended.

It is probable that Real Todd has not shown his correct form in his latest en gagements, for the reason that he has failed to trot steadily. Tho Todd Bells gelding does not appear to be anything out of the ordinary, although he showed sufficient form last season lo indicate possibilities Real Todd i« in a class at Claudelands where he should have a tavourable oppor tunity to make atfiends for recent failures

A. Shepherd is handling a yoarling colt by ! Peterwah from Princess Eria. Like his sire, the youngster is a chestnut in colour and shows a lot of quality. It is intended to handle him for a week or two and then put him out again. The youngster shows an inclination to' pace, and when the time comes will no doubt bo tried as a pacer.

It is probable that 3. Shaw will start both Bold Bill and Amaris in the Mart Memorial Clip at Claudelands As he lias an interest in Bold Bill. Shaw will have lo drive that horse himself. No definite arrangements have been made for a driver for Amarifl although S Selkirk is likel.v to steer the Logan Pointer horse. At present Loch Moigh, <sold Jacket and Armaria are the most discussed horses in connection with the Mark Memorial Cup at Claudelands. Loch Moigh has done well since winning at the recent. Otahnhu meeting and, though handicapped up to. his beot form, will most likely start favourite. The three-year-old Warplane is still on thi easy list as a result of the cold ho contracted a few weeks ago He is now nearly rid of the complaint and should be ready to resume work soon Warplane is furnishing into a fine horse and has shown a good deal of promise. It is a long time since Wild Nut has won ti race and he might not be quite so good as he was a couple of seasons ago Never theless. ho looks very well and might eflec' a surprise at one of the country meetingtHandicapped on 4m 475, ho went 4m 4P 1 fis to finish a respectable fourth at his last start, and slight improvement on that form would make him hard to beat at the minor meetings There was good support, tor Ploraline in the Papatoetoe Handicap at the Olahuhti meeting, but he lot his supporters Urtvn badly by failing to begin correctly Lat terljr he has been trotting in improved style and racing more solidly and it wag •hought that he had lost his former bud habits at the .barrier Perhaps he mav do it right at Claudelands; it so, he mat bp dangerous in the Hamilton Handicap. Dalnahine'a double win at the Forburv t'ark meeting last week credited Mr .1 M Samson vith fine m prize-money Queens Tmeral and Avalanche, by their contri butionn, brought the Ounedin ♦ot.nl for the meeting up to £l2lO. The trotter Kaima, whose two failures ut the Auckland Spring Meeting were very expensive t.o backers, is among those nomin a ted for minor «vents al the Auckland Summer Meeting There is no doubt 'hat F?aima has the ability to win from his present mark, and perhaps he may show true form at the summer 'carnival The- Australian importation Western King is reported to bo recovering steadily from the severe injuries he received in a mishup some weeks ago. It will bo a little time yot before he is able to resume work.' although he is now being exercised daily on the lead. I
