A quiet day was experienced on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, and apart from the mining section there was very little business recorded. In Government securities War Loans, 1938, per cent., were in demand at £96 155,. sellers £97. Inscribed Stock, 1929, 4 per cent., sold at £96 New Zealand Refrigerating Company, 6£ per cent, debentures, were on the market at £lOl In banking New South Wales, which sold a fortnight ago at £44 10s, were done at £45. The market closed with New Zealands quoted at 60s 9d and 60s. In loan and agency a sale of Guarantee Corporation, ordinary, was effected at 9s. the price at which they were available at tiie late call. In breweries buyers offered up to 41s 6d for New Zealand Breweries without obtaining a response. In miscellaneous sellers of British Tobaccos quoted 53s 9d in the morning, but afterwards asked 54s 3d, buyers 535. Taranaki Oilfields were offered at lis and wanted at 10s 6d. Buyers of Wilsons Cements advanced during the day from 35s 9d to 36s 3d. In mining Occidental Ona United, con tributing, were sold at Is 7d, a decrease of Id since Tuesday, and Ohinemuri Gold and Silver at the current rate of 6s 4cl W<tihit; have shown a slight improvement during the past fortnight and changed hands at €ls 3d and 21s 9d. The foP.owjng sales took place:—New Zealand Inscribed Stock, 1929, 4 per cent., £96; Bank of New South Wales, £45; New Zealand Guarantee Corporation, ordinary, 9s; Occidental Una United, contributing, Is 7d; Ohinemuri Gold and Silver, 6s 4d: Waihi, 21s Bd, 21s 9d.
