DISEASES IN STOCK.
SOUTH AMERICAN PROPOSAL. BRITISH OFFICIAL'S MISSION. (British Official Wireless.) (Received November 2S, 9.15 p.m.) A. and N.Z. RUGBY, Nov. 24. Lord Bledisloe, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, will leave England on a mission to South America on December 31. Ho will confer at Buenos Aires and Monte Video, on hehalf of the British Government, with representatives of the Governments of Argentina and Uruguay, concerning a measure for the control of animal diseases which those countries have proposed to adopt, to remove the risk of transmitting foot and mouth disease to Britain.
VISIT TO AUSTRALIA. TWO BRITISH SCIENTISTS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received November 28, 9.15 p.m.) A. and N.Z. RUGBY, Nov. 27. At the invitation of the Government of Australia, two scientists, Sir Arnold Theiler and Dr. J. B. Orr, will visit the Commonwealth early next year to consult with the Australian authorities on problems concerning diseases of cattle and sheep and the scientific feeding of stock. It was recommended at a recent conference on Imperial agricultural research that an Imperial bureau on animal nutrition be created. It was also recommended that the bureau should be located at the Rowett Institute, at Aberdeen, of which Dr. Orr is director.
Sir Arnold Theiler has been director of veterinary education and research in South Africa since 1920. and professor of tropical veterinary medicine at Transvaal University College from the same year. He is one of the most distinguished veterinary scientists in the British Empire.
