TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening Unsettled and showery weather is indicated and cold, boisterous conditions will rule generally, particularly in west coast districts and southern areas, but improving everywhere shortly. Southerly to south-westerly winds, strong to gale, and squally, moderating. Seas rough. An intense Antarctic disturbance is at present operating over the Dominion, and atmospheric pressure is low in tho south, wbero wintry conditions are expected to prevail, with snow on the higher levels. Barometric pressure will increase everywhere, succeeded by fine weather. Barometer, midnight, steady . . 29.80 in. Midnight, Sunday . . . • 29.75 in.

GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —Present indications are for strong winds to gale,, westerly, backing to south-westerly north of Kawhia and Napier, and south-easterly to southerly elsewhere; weather cold, unsettled and boisterous, with passing showers generally, but some heavy rain in t lie east coast between East Cape and Akaroa, and in the Cook Strait region; barometer rising over the Dominion soon, and conditions gradually moderating. The cyclone has been centred to-day off the oast coast south of Napier.
