VISITORS FROM AUCKLAND. [BT TRI.ECRAPB. —OWN COHRtTSPOKDEJCT. 1 PAEROA Mortda» The Paeroa Orphans' Club closed its 1927,. season on Saturday with a ladies' night. The meeting was held in the Gaiety Theatre, and the guests of the evening included members of the Auckland Orphans' Club; Mr. J. Crawford, president of the associated clubs of New Zealand; Mr. G. Baildon, Mayor of Auckland; Mr: ,H. R Mackenzie, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board; Mr. S. Bongard, Mayor of Thames; and Mr E Sutherland, president of the Onehunga Orphans' Club. The orchestra of the Auckland Club, under the baton of Mr. Cater,, provided music. Professor Maxwell Walker was chairman. The guests were welcomed by Mr. W Marshall, Mayor of Paeron, and Mr Bail don replied /on behalf of the >zuest3. An excellent musical programme was contrs bated, the items by the Auckland orrhe# tra were received with the greatest en thußiasm. , During the evening the president, Mr Percy Williams, presented to Mr. C, Cater, a silver-mounted baton, and to Colonel C. E. Andrews a beautifullymounted walking stick. The Auckland guests were entertained yesterday morning by the local orphans, and left for Auckland early in the afternoon.
