RUSH ON WAREHOUSE.
EAGER BARGAIN HUNTERS.
Crowds of bargain hunters who beseiged the premises of Archbald Clark and Sons, Limited, yesterday, following tho an riouncement that tho warehouse was to be thrown open to the public, provided a scene unusual in Auckland. At an eaily hour it was evident that it would be impossible to deal with the rush except by regulating tho rate of admission to the building, and the services of two traffic inspectors and a constable were requisitioned to marshal tho shoppers into an orderly queue. Tho long counters in tho building made it possiblo to deal with large numbers of customers at once When tho doors were opened, however, the limit of capacity was quickly reached and several hundreds had to await their turn for admission. The numbers were constantly augmented by now arrivals, and tho queue, stretching from tho doors in Elliott Street round tho corner and up Wellesley Street west, was maintained throughout the day. From time to time the opening of the doors whs tho sign for an eager surge forward and tho forcible closing of tho doors meant another tantalising wait for those who just missed tho quota. Tho greatest good humour prevailed in the queue, which contained a fair proportion of men. Shortly after four o'clock tho doors were closed in order that the wants of those alreadv inside tho building might lie attended to before closing time.
