WHANGAREI AFFAIRS.

REPORT ON COUNCIL STAFF. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI. Monday. The Whangarei Borough Council met this evening. The county clerk advised that his council had approved the scheme and recommendations of the conference on regional planning. A resolution forwarded by the Wanganui City Council protesting against the proposed tax of 4d a gallon on petrol did not meet with the council's approval. An application from the Whangarei Cycle Club for permission to lay down a cycle track at Kensington Park was granted subject to the Parks Committee's approval. Detailed instructions from the medical officer of health relative to the cleansing of the grounds at show time were sent forward to the Agricultural and Pastoral Society. A committee comprising the Mayor, Messrs. Brainsbv, Jack and Pickmere, was appointed to report oc the borough staff. The MifcVor said it was time they had a stocktaking and he fell that there were cases in which duplication of duties could be avoided while certain of the bonwh servants were also working under difficulties through lack of room. Nothing but good could come of a report on the disposition of the staff generally.
