RODNEY COUNTY ROADS.
STATE GRANTS SOUGHT. [I3Y TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.) WARK WORTH, Thursday. The Rodney County Council, at its last meeting, decided to ask the Government to place on the supplementary estimates grants for various roads in the county totalling £2450. The council agreed to purchase a sixton steam roller with scarifier attached. The engineer reported that goud work was being done by scarifying, rolling and grading metal in different parts of the county. The scarifying of old metal shoulders had been done at a cost of 2s s£d per chain. The land span of the old Port Albert wharf having collapsed, it was resolved to extend the filling in place of the woodwork. The contractor for extension of Matakana wharf is proceeding with the steel and concreto work.
