CITY GOVERNMENT.
NEW SOUTH WALES BILL. OPPOSITION FROM COUNCIL. (Received November 17, 11.10 p.m.) A and N.Z. SYDNEY, Nov. 17. The first reading in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly of the Civic Commission Bill was carried by 45 votes to 40. It was purely a party vote. The Assembly refused, by 46 votes to 42, a petition presented by the " City Council, praying that counsel, on their behalf, might be heard at the Bar of the House in support of their reasons against the suspension of the Council.
