TRANSPACIFIC FLIERS.
GILES READY TO START. ENDURANCE TRIAL BY SMITH. (Received November 17, 5.5 p.m.) A. mid N.Z. SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 16. If the weather permits, Captain F. A. Giles will start to-morrow morning for Honolulu, en route to Australia and New Zealand. All details for the flight have b»en completed. Captain Kingsford Smith announces that he will attempt to break tne record for an endurance flight either on Sunday or Monday. His machine will carry 1435 gallons of spirit, which is to be sufficient for a flight aloft of 60 hours. The present record is 55 hours, which was achieved by German airmen, who surpassed the record of the American, Clarence Chamberlin, and Bert Acosta in the piano provided by Mr. Charles Lnvine. Captain -Giles will take Lieutenant Pond with him as a co-pilot.
