BYRD'S FLIGHT NEXT YEAR. SOUTH POLE EXPEDITION. Sun NEW YORK. Nov 18. In connection with his proposed flight to the South Pole, Commander R. E. Bvrd. who flew" over the North Pole in May. 1926, announces that he will go to New Zealand in September next year, and will then go on to the Great Ice Barrier. His party will number 50, and will be on an oil-burning ship. They intend to establish a little city on the ice and to maintain connection with tho world by radio. Commander Byrd expects to use three planes on the flight, to tho Pole. He says his trip will be purely for scientific purposes.
